"Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, And though they are with you yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts, For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams." -Khalil Ghibran

That has to be the most unreasonable excuse in human history ;-)
im sure the british felt the same way! for instance, who ever thought that something like salt could move a country! compared to all his outrageous ideas that worked so splendidly, i think this is rather reasonable!
see.. wat m sayin is dat the social, political and historical context was wat made his actions resonable at dat time.... at least to the indians...!!
Fast forward a 50 or 60 odd years.. the context has changed...there are communities on orkt like"i hate gandhi".. time has diluted his ideology and the adherence of its followers as well.. Things dont mean the same anymore....
Wether its good or bad... its upto everyone of us to decide..!!
Rebels always fight, they change the world we live in, but they also die! The meek inherit the earth...
