It's a fucked up world

The Olympics appears on a few poorly programmed Vietnamese channels. They're the kind who might play golf over the 100m finals.

I try to watch Usain Bolt's Beijing miracle online, but NBC thinks it's grossly unfair; they remove the videos off youtube, and when I check their site, the videos are only for American viewers.

I think we're sophisticated whores, selling everything to fuck-all NBC. I think everyone should get to see the Olympics free of cost.

NBC also schedules the miss universe evening gown contest at 8 in the morning here in Vietnam, so that fat american asses can be warmed in the wide couches, and get fatter on junk food while people elsewhere wake up at 530!

Next time someone in America complains about losing jobs to India, we should remind them.

I visited the War Museum in Saigon. It's difficult to imagine that America has any respect left in the world. They're so fucked up in the head that I think the world should fear them more than the terrorists or the bubonic plague.

i protested the hoarding of rice, if that counts.

yeah, i'm a bitch... i like cribbing way more than changing the world, which i've also tried and frequently failed. But id like to think that i try.

not to take sides here but afai have seen, the people here are rather nice and friendly (unlike the stories of xenophobes i hear about from some countries in europe) but the government here does try to run an evil empire...

some of my best friends are in america or are american... it's not a comment on the people in general. it's just a point on how societies evolve, on how business drives things, everywhere.

the point on the war is different. i can only imagine there was a huge information arbitrage, and the people simply didn't know. democracy leads to this huh?

"They're so fucked up in the head that I think the world should fear them more than the terrorists or the bubonic plague." your choice of words are a little misleading... never mind that.

on the question on what actually brought about the war itself; there are very many reasons that are being talked about (the cold war is one, ZietGiest offers a different perspective).

True people's misinformed consent allowed the war, but then again it was people's dissent towards that war that ended it.

u say democracy caused this? what other form of governance do you think would not have caused this?

Can we please have some more details as to how you tried to change the world? and smoking enough weed to support the farming community does not count! Neither does taking pics of BPL people smiling!

change the world?? people like this guy dont try to change the world. they are no different from the american they abuse. You are complaining about not getting to see the olympics, i'm sure ur educated enough to realise there are people who dont even know what olympics are. what u got does not count, you have to compare urself to others and crib.

wanderer now works in Olam which does commodity trading. Wanderer managed to pick up the term "arbitrage" which he now uses 18 times an hour. He however had not heard of the word during 2 years of MBA. Wanderer is living- somewhat- proof of the proverb a little knowledge is dangerous.

Wanderer has to take into account that neither he nor anyone he knows-who likes him- has ever woken up at 5:30.Also wanderer should know that the bourne movies were made by universal pictures a subsidiary of NBC. SO don't you ever diss NBC again you disloyal bastard.

What fun....Looks like you struck a nerve with Anonymous....lol....Constructive criticism is allowed but judgmental cribbing in reaction to your rant is what trolling is all about.....It's like pouring water on a duck's back in an effort to drown it.....Keep quacking Subu.....

i employ people in a poor province, provide finance that the banks cannot... in a small way i help hundreds of families get 3 meals a day. sure, we're here to make money, but charity - where do you draw the line? you're not going to bring people up by catching fish for them - for how long? i am a believer in the free-market.

presently my struggles include food, language, solitude sometimes... i have plans for a school nearby... i'm not a world-changing policy-maker, but i try to improve the lives around me. if you think i can do something more, tell me what and il listen. pissing ignorance on someone else's dream is brilliant huh? if you ever visit any place like where i work, you might begin to understand.

so, while you sit in that airconditioned office, eating familiar food, having words to communicate... it's amusing that I am the one who is accused of being harmed by a little knowledge.

wendrick, thank you!
